How to Make Blackened Filet Mignon Like a Chef

I don’t know about you, but I am always looking for new recipes.  I really like recipes that are quick, easy, and taste really good.  I found one from Chef G. Garvin( one of my favorite chefs) for blackened filet mignon with garlic…yummy.  Watch him make it:

Here is the Recipe:

Blackened Filet Mignon with Whole Garlic

Succulent beef tenderloin, seasoned, stuffed with garlic, and roasted on the grill for a delicious main course.

Details & Ingredients

  • 4 lb center cut beef tenderloin roast
  • 8 whole fresh garlic cloves, peeled
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp seasoned salt
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste

Cooking Steps

  1. Using a small paring knife, cut eight very small slits in the tenderloin just wide enough to slide one clove of garlic into each slit. Rub the meat with the oil then season with whole tenderloin with the seasoned salt, kosher salt, and pepper. Use 100% cotton kitchen string to tie the roast at 2-inch intervals for even cooking.
  2. Arrange hot coals around a drip pan. Test for medium-high heat above the pan. Place tenderloin roast on a grill rack over the drip pan. Cover; grill for 1 to 1-1/4 hours or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the roast reads 135°F for medium rare.
  3. Remove meat from the grill. Cover with foil and let stand for 15 minutes. Remove string; slice and serve.

Please try it, and let me know how it turned out!  More recipes are coming soon… enjoy!
